Canon GPS Receiver GP-E1

Coinciding with the announcement of the EOS professional digital SLR D1-X we extensively discussed in recent days, Canon has officially launched a new accessory for it which increases the functionality, we are talking about the GPS Receiver GP-E1.

The device in question is none other than the ultra-compact GPS receiver that, once installed, allows geo-tagging of photos, which is an indication of geographical coordinates of where the click occurred. Register, in fact, longitude, altitude and latitude, including the time of capture.

There are also a small electronic compass which allows the photographer to record even as it was directed at the camera during shooting. All information is stored in the Exif metadata to be read later, and possibly modified at a later time using a special software.

The new GPS Receiver GP-E1 from Canon is expected in specialized centers since April of next year, just one month after the arrival of professional digital SLR EOS D1-X. The price? Approximately $ 300 CDN, which is approximately equivalent to the change 230 euros including VAT.
