Panasonic Lumix LX5 and Canon S95

There are no digital SLR cameras for professional photographers or advanced amateurs? Of course I do, although they are few. Among these are the Panasonic Lumix LX5, the Canon S95 and the Nikon P7000, three cameras compared from Gizmodo. And the winner is …

An overall winner is not there, it seems, however, each of the three cameras have their pros and cons that make it interesting. The Panasonic Lumix LX5 has its strong point Objective 3.8 x 24-90 mm, the maximum angle of all (the Canon has a 28-105 mm, a Nikon 28-200 mm). Besides this, the LX5 is also a good compromise between size and wealth of controls available on the camera body, in addition to the usual, excellent photo quality.

The Canon S95 is the simplest of the group, and the pictures are the hottest hues and colors more saturated (but without becoming unnatural) between the three contenders. The video, however good, it does not appear at the photos, even if it has resolution of 720p.

Finally, the Nikon P7000 is more professional looking of them all. There are checks and nuts for practically everything and the display has a resolution twice that of the other. The zoom lens has the widest and photos seem to have excellent sharpness.

Of course they all have cons, but the conclusion of Gizmodo is extraordinarily “politics. ” For them, in fact, they all have the credentials to be the winners. The P7000 for an amazing variety of controls, the LX5 for the S95 and the target for its overall balance.
In short, they win them all.
